Andria Hickey is a contemporary art curator, writer, and strategic advisor.
Her practice combines curatorial authorship with long-term advisory work, supporting artists, museums, and cultural organizations through exhibitions, public art commissions, strategic planning, and program development.
She is currently overseeing the development of a new art initiative at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, integrating contemporary art within a dynamic civic context where sport, culture and community converge. Alongside this work, Andria collaborates with institutions and partners on research-driven curatorial projects, commissioned writing, public programs, and institutional partnerships.
Andria’s curatorial approach is grounded in experimentation, public art, and interdisciplinary practice, with a particular interest in how contemporary art operates within shared civic spaces and varied institutional settings. Her work often bridges art with broader cultural, social, and environmental conversations, emphasizing care, long-term thinking, and stewardship as critical infrastructure for cultural institutions.
Previously, Andria served as Head of Programs at Shorefast and Fogo Island Arts, where she directed the international artist residency program and led interdisciplinary initiatives connecting art, environmental stewardship, and place-based community economic development.
As Chief Curator at The Shed in New York, she led the visual arts program during a pivotal period, securing major international partnerships, including a collaboration with Fondation Cartier that resulted in the presentation of the acclaimed exhibition The Yanomami Struggle.

Her tenure included landmark exhibitions and publications with artists such as Sam Gilliam, Agnes Martin, Jo Baer, Trevor Paglen, and Torkwase Dyson.
As Senior Curator at MOCA Cleveland (2016–2018), Andria shaped the museum’s curatorial vision with experimental collaborations and new commissions with artists including Hank Willis Thomas, Eric Gottesman, For Freedoms, Tauba Auerbach, Lisa Oppenheim, Rashid Johnson, Abraham Cruzvillegas, and Josh Kline.
From 2011 to 2016, Andria served as Curator at Public Art Fund, where she organized major public art commissions throughout New York City, working with artists including Danh Vo, Katharina Grosse, Sam Falls, Adam Pendleton, and others.
